Blue Mountains Planetary Health Initiative - Katoomba NSW
The Blue Mountains Planetary Health Initiative supports local action to restore ecosystems and strengthen community health, resilience, and hope amid climate change and increasing natural disasters. Blue Mountains City Council has a strong record of integrating sustainability into its operations to promote long-term environmental stewardship.
Project Design Brief
Designers were tasked with implementing a stormwater management system to manage runoff from multiple catchment areas across the Old Katoomba Golf Course site. The system was required to provide water retention capacity to capture and store stormwater on-site. The system includes a connection point for the local fire service, enabling pumpassisted access to stored water for refilling fire trucks during firefighting operations in the Blue Mountains.
ACO's Solution
- StormBrixx SD – 150m3 Retention Tank
Benefits
- ACO StormBrixx is strong and quick to assemble. It is installed in a brick bonded and cross bonded configuration for optimal stability.
- Optimum storage capacity with 97% void ratio of total volume
- The open cell structure permits completely free access for CCTV and jetting equipment which allows the whole system, including all the extremities, to be inspected and maintained from a few access points.
