Cost comparison with concrete tanks
A report was prepared by an independent quantity surveyor, Rider Levett Bucknall, to compare the installation
cost of ACO’s StormBrixx plastic geocellular tank with three different types of concrete tanks:
- Scenario 1 – Modular Tanks (rectangular concrete tank and cylindrical pipe tank)
- Scenario 2 – Precast Tanks
- Scenario 3 – Cast Insitu Tank
Modular and precast concrete tanks are heavy and require craneage to place into excavation with high transportation costs and open space required to store on site. Cast insitu concrete tanks are labour intensive, require long curing times and needs to be waterproofed internally.
There are significant cost savings when installing a StormBrixx tank in lieu of a concrete tank.
Depending on the type of concrete tank, costs savings can be anywhere between 22% – 148%.
